Safeguarding

At Poole Grammar School the safety and wellbeing of all our students are of paramount importance. We are committed to creating a safe, happy, supportive and inclusive environment where all students can learn and thrive without fear of harm. To assist in this aim all members of the Leadership Team, Heads of Year and members of the pastoral team regularly complete Level 3 safeguarding training.

Operation Encompass

From 1st April 2021, Dorset Police have been working in partnership with schools and colleges across the local authority to launch an initiative called Operation Encompass.

Operation Encompass enables police to notify schools when one of their students has experienced domestic abuse. By providing schools with the knowledge that a domestic incident has taken place, it enables staff to make provision for the students involved.

The project ensures that at least one member of our school staff, known as the Key Adult, is trained to liaise with the police and to use the information that has been shared, in confidence. The Key Adult for Poole Grammar School is Mr Nathan Chase.

As always, we are keen to offer the best support possible to all of our pupils and we believe that this initiative is extremely beneficial to all involved.
